Carolina-based N.C. Policy Collaboratory to receive state funds to study and fight coronavirus

The N.C. Policy Collaboratory based at UNC-Chapel Hill will receive $29 million to study treatment, community testing and prevention of COVID-19 under a $1.5 billion coronavirus relief package approved by state legislators last week and signed by Governor Roy Cooper today.

Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFASs) contaminate groundwater, surface water, and finished drinking water internationally. Research funded by the NC Policy Collaboratory resulted in a new platform approach for the development of ionic fluorogel resins that effectively remove a chemically diverse mixture of PFAS from water.


N.C. Policy Collaboratory Submits UNC Jordan Lake Study Report to the N.C. General Assembly

Following a three-year study of Jordan Lake commissioned by the North Carolina legislature, a team of university researchers has submitted a final report, which includes management recommendations. The report examines the current state of the lake, evaluates water quality strategies and identifies new funding and policy opportunities.

Researchers from Western Carolina University and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services are partnering with organizations in western North Carolina to protect hemlock trees, the “Redwoods of the East.” The Collaboratory is supporting this project.
