The Collaboratory is playing an important role in leading research projects that address the most critical environmental and natural resource issues in the state.

The UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees was briefed in a September 28 presentation on the Collaboratory’s role in connecting environmental research at the state’s universities to policy-makers at the state and local levels.

Consistent with its mission to utilize and disseminate the environmental research expertise of the University of North Carolina for practical use by state and local government the NC Policy Collaboratory has announced a set of funded projects for the 2017-18 academic year.

The North Carolina Policy Collaboratory is funding several research projects in response to Hurricane Matthew. UNC faculty and staff are working with communities on the ground to meet current response needs and better prepare for future disasters.

The North Carolina Policy Collaboratory is overseeing a three-year study on Jordan Lake to evaluate nutrient concerns and identify solutions to protect the water quality in the lake. 

On May 1 the North Carolina Policy Collaboratory issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 2017-18 academic year.

After a national search, Dr. Jeffrey Warren has been named research director for the North Carolina Policy Collaboratory, effective March 6, 2017.

Mark Little, executive director of the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute for Private Enterprise, was named to the North Carolina Policy Collaboratory Advisory Board on Feb. 7.

Brad Ives, associate vice chancellor for Campus Enterprises at UNC-Chapel Hill, was named director of the North Carolina Policy Collaboratory, effective Feb. 7.
