On Collaboratory Conversations’ fourth episode, communications intern Taylor Fitzgerald speaks with Dr. Michael Piehler about the Collaboratory’s Jordan and Falls Lake Nutrient Management Study. As lead researcher, Dr. Piehler gives some great insight into the study that is meant to analyze nutrient management strategies and compile water quality data for Jordan and Falls Lakes. Both of these lakes are located within various North Carolina counties including Durham, Chatham, Wake and Granville. This makes the health of Jordan and Falls Lakes especially important for water quality within the Triangle area. In this episode, Dr. Piehler discusses how the study started, its goals and greatest findings, how it has enhanced our understanding of these major NC lakes, and where he sees the future of the study heading.
